City of Fountain City Notice of Candidate Filing

In order to be eligible for an elective city office a person must be a resident elector of the city and, if the office is alderperson, a resident of the aldermanic district, at least 28 days before the election. Wis. Stat. secs. 62.09(2)(a) and 6.02(1). Thus, a person may file nomination papers as a candidate for the office of alderperson even if that person does not currently reside in the aldermanic district which he or she seeks to represent as long as he or she will be a resident of the district within 28 days of the election date.

Opening date for municipal candidate filing: December at 8:00 a.m.

Closing date for municipal candidate filing: January by 5:00 p.m.

Nomination papers can be picked up at city hall, 42 N Main Street, Fountain City, WI 54629.

When to vote:

All voters who have property registered to vote or are already registered in the City of Fountain City can arrive at the polling place as early as 7:00am when the polls officially open. The polls remain open throughout the day, closing at 8:00pm.

2024 Elections

Spring Primary: February 20, 2024 (if necessary) – Nonpartisan Primary held the third Tuesday in February to nominate candidates to be voted for at the Spring Election.

Spring Election: April 2, 2024 – Election held the first Tuesday in April for Court of Appeals Judge, Circuit Court Judge, County Nonpartisan Offices, Municipal Offices, School District Offices, and referenda (if necessary), and in Presidential years, to express preference for the person to be the presidential candidate for each party.

Fall Partisan Primary: August 13, 2024 – Partisan Primary held the second Tuesday in August to nominate candidates to be voted for at the General Election and referenda (if necessary).

General Election: November 5, 2024 – Election held in even-numbered years on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November to elect the Governor, United States Senator, Representative in Congress, State Senator, Representative to the Assembly, District Attorney, County Partisan Offices, and referenda (if necessary).
