Barefoot Landing is temporarily closed while we take a moment for family. Please stay tuned for reopening dates.

Learn how to make REALLY good bread! Come and learn the lost art of artisanal bread baking with Earl and Rosemary Binkley at Barefoot Landing Breads. Classes are available daily from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm with reservations.

Barefoot Landing Breads is a hands-on bread and pie baking school. We teach classes out of our yellow cottage, perched high on the hillside above the beautiful Mississippi River village of Fountain City, WI. Our baking room provides a cozy learning environment, with room for 2 to 5 students at a time. Personal attention is guaranteed.

Located at 7 S Main St in Fountain City, WI. We are open from Memorial Day to October 1st, on Fridays, from 1:00 – 4:00pm and anytime by appointment. To make arrangements call Ann, John or Sandy. We are happy to accommodate any individuals, families, and groups throughout the year by appointment.

Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 1:00pm at the Museum. Anyone interested in the history of Fountain City and its area is welcome to join us.

Donations of items from the past pertaining to the Fountain City Area are always greatly appreciated. We are looking for old atlas, post cards, advertising and high school year books. Old pictures are also appreciated. We can scan pictures and return them to you if you do not want to donate to the society at this time. Also, if someone in your family has compiled and printed a family history, we would be happy to include a copy in our archives.

Donations are always welcome and greatly appreciated as well. Membership fees help us to continue as a group to maintain our museum and the history of Fountain City. You can become a member anytime. Memberships also make a great gift. You might also want to consider including us in your will or estate planning.

As part of our fund raising we also sell Limited Edition Calendars, t-shirts, postcards, books of area history, note cards, prints of old area buildings and much more. Stop in to purchase or contact us to arrange pick up.

It’s been called “Wisconsin’s Stonehenge” – it is a must-see! No photos or
descriptions do it justice! This place is unique in all the world. It has been said that
Kinstone features the largest privately owned stone circle in the world. This has not
been confirmed, but it must be close! There are literal tons and tons of granite
boulders, standing stones and sculptures. Come to enjoy the beauty of the space, see
the gardens and natural buildings, find a spot for quiet contemplation and re-
connect to nature, or take a circuitous walk around to visit the stones and
structures.
Kinstone is located in rural Fountain City just off County Road M on Cole Bluff Lane.
It is a contemplative, park-like place with spectacular views and intriguing
sculptures and structures. This 30-acre bluff-top property has over 110 standing
stones including three stone circles, megalithic dolmen, classic 7-circuit labyrinth,
thatched cordwood chapel, dry-stack stone sculpture, natural buildings,
permaculture gardens, and more. There are several alignments of interest at
Summer and Winter Solstice and the Equinoxes.  Kinstone has an Education Center
where many courses and workshops are hosted that focus on topics for a healthy
body, mind and spirit. Topics like artistic expression, creativity, spirituality, yoga,
food preservation, holistic health, permaculture, sustainable living and more. Come
to be inspired to regenerate, relearn and revive.
Visiting: Expect to spend a couple of hours wandering a wonderland that seems as
if it is from another time and place. Please bring nothing with you except a camera &
notebook and leave nothing behind except your footprints light upon the earth.
Every time you visit, please stop to read the message boards on our Information
Kiosks located in the parking areas for information on what to do upon arrival,
parking, newsy updates, upcoming events, and to pay your entrance fee. Please stop
in the Education Center (when it’s open!) to sign in and leave comments to let us
know who you are and where you are from! If you wish to have a guided experience,
that can be arranged with advance notice.
Bring your water bottle, sunblock for sunny days, dress for the weather (sun hat,
rain coat, umbrella, etc), wear sturdy shoes and be prepared to walk rough and
sometimes steep terrain. Find more details and directions on our website.

Hours:  May 1 through October 31; DAILY 10am to 6pm (Closed in Winter)
All other times are by prior special arrangement!

Cost: Self-guided Visit: suggested donation $5/adult  $2/youth
