In just one day you will learn the basics of wood / log selection, materials and equipment needed for an effective cordwood construction experience, mortar mixing, setting logs and mortar into a wall, tuck-pointing, maintenance information, and general tips and techniques that demonstrate best practices! Plus you will get hours of hands-on practice!! Come learn the best way to build with cordwood by getting your hands on a working project! We will be working on the in-progress Cordwood Kiosk at Kinstone. There are walls to be completed and there are still dragons and bottle-ends to be embedded into those walls… students will forever become part of this creative and functional Kinstone building! You will get expert instructor demonstrations and individually supervised hands-on practice. Students will be able to see the thatched, cordwood Kinstone Chapel and our cordwood sauna over the lunch break. Statement
I explore the cyclical dialogue of internal/external architecture, the body as a mediator and its role in the instability of identity. Through the breakdown and rebuilding of both constructed architectural spaces and the human form, I mimic the everyday filtering and application of our surroundings to one’s self. My choice of materials and techniques become a direct reflection of my past spaces.
